Our Team of Pharmacists
Tom has been a lifelong resident of Vashon. Tom grew up on the island and began working in 1969 as a high school sophomore right here at Vashon Pharmacy. After graduating in 1971, Tom attended Western Washington University where he studied pre-pharmacy and met his wife Mary. Tom then attended the University of Washington School of Pharmacy where he finished his degree. Having enjoyed working on Vashon as a high school student, Tom accepted a staff pharmacist position at Vashon Pharmacy and began working with Bill Willingham and Cecil Perkins. When Bill decided to sell the pharmacy in 1992, Tom jumped at the opportunity to continue serving the community in which he grew up. Tom joined forces with Dave Willingham (Bill’s son), and the two of them formed the ownership partnership still in place today. Tom and Mary are very grateful for the Vashon community in which they have raised their 4 children. They now have 6 grandchildren with whom they enjoy spending their spare time.
Dave moved to Vashon after his dad took over ownership of Vashon Pharmacy at the age of 3 (1957). Dave moved off island at the age of 12 and graduated from Bellevue High School in 1973. Dave enlisted in the Army, became an Airborne Ranger, and served at Fort Lewis. He became an instructor at the NCO academy at Fort Lewis for his last year and a half in the Army. After the army Dave went to work for an oil company in Houston and got moved around the country several times before deciding it was time for pharmacy school. Dave graduated from University of Washington School of Pharmacy and ran Warren’s Drugs in Normandy Park for 6 years and received an offer from his dad to move back to Vashon and buy Vashon Pharmacy with Tom Langland as his business partner. The purchase was done in November 1991 and Bill worked for Tom and Dave for a couple of years. Bill finally gave notice and Myra walked in looking for a job as a pharmacist. Myra was hired and later became Dave’s wife but Dave still insists he’s the boss. Dave and Myra have 4 children that grew up on Vashon and 4 grandchildren. Dave’s love in life (besides his wife) is boating and now belong to the Quartermaster Yacht Club. Dave’s personal goal in life is to take his boat to Alaska for 4-5 months and “survive”.
Myra grew up in Lodi, California before attending University of Pacific in Stockton, California. Myra completed her Doctor of Pharmacy degree in 1983 from University of Pacific College of Pharmacy. Myra began her pharmacy career as an inpatient pharmacist at Highline Medical Center in Burien. Myra moved to Vashon in 1993 when she began working as a staff pharmacist at Vashon Pharmacy alongside her husband Dave. Myra has many hobbies that she enjoys especially fiber arts; she spends much of her downtime spinning yarn, knitting, weaving and using natural dyes. Myra also plays an important role in the Vashon Sheepdog Trials where she spends time working on projects supporting that event.
